For this assignment our goal was to create a beverage brand with superpower benefits that you could use to market the product. We had to start from scratch using everything that we learned from our previous projects to construct this assignment. We had to create the concept of the drink, a name and logo for it, create some designs for the bottle and add extra flavors or merchandise that could sold with the drink. For me, the idea of creating a sports drink that could give you enhanced senses with the slight chance of exploding was a funny thought. So I went with it.

This assignment required us to create fake posters for a music festival with all of our favorite musicians under one roof. The intention of these designs was that they had to be simple and straight to the point with an emphasis on hierarchy of text. This is so they could be placed on merchandise and advertisements you would see on multiples on the side of the venues. I liked a lot of these designs and wished some of them could be more fleshed out into perhaps bigger posters or illustrations but the final ones that came out were a great sight to see.

For Graphic Design 2, we were tasked on reviewing a designer and taking a deep dive into their career. Then we design an article cover for a magazine that embodies that designer’s work. My designer was Jessica Hische, a graphic designer, typographer and illustrator which made things easy for me to try to develop a unique style to show off her work in this magazine. I cut out her name out of the many lettering commissions she has done for clients and picked out colors to make the article flow throughout the review.

In this assignment we were tasked to create a collage movie poster design for a documentary called Everything Is A Remix. This poster was first done in two parts, we had to pick certain traits to express how the poster was going to look like. The traits for the first draft was literal, organized, and dense. The final design was supposed to combine my poster design with another student’s design. This time the traits had to be the opposite of the initial design so this time my design traits were abstract, chaotic, and sparse. My initial design was based on the romantic relationships that happen in film and the second poster combined that topic with record and newspapers aesthetics.

In this assignment we were tasked on learning about the 20 Rules of Design created by graphic designer Paul Rand. I picked a topic to center on and I chose film posters because of their unique designs that follow Rand’s rules and because I love every aspect of films and filmmaking including their marketing. We chose 20 designs to correspond to each rule and after that we had to settle on 10 rules to focus on. The 10 we chose then had to be put into a 24-page pamphlet including front and back covers as well as a famous quote by Paul Rand.
